Description:
We are currently seeking an Assistant Scientist and Associate Scientist to join our Immunoassay team in Manassas, VA.
The Assistant Scientist, Immunoassay performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine sample analysis procedures. Makes and records observations; performs calculations; and collects and prepares data for evaluation. Performs assays according to established test procedures, judging and monitoring assay quality, preparing samples, and maintaining assay reagents. Prepares lab reagents, participates in maintaining lab equipment and samples, and supports lab safety and GLP compliance.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs sample accession/handling according to SOP.
- Prepares stock and working solutions/standards and QC samples. Aliquots control matrices.
- Learns and performs required laboratory techniques using established protocols and Standard Operation Procedures under the direction of Project Leader.
- Participates in method development, method validation and sample analysis.
- Uses LIMS system to schedule samples, set up and edit work lists, create sequence files (as determined by the Project Leader).
- Performs data analysis and uploads run data/results to LIMS system.
- Weighs client compounds.
- Documents all project work in appropriate laboratory notebooks according to Advion and GLP procedures and processes.
- Prepares and reviews run binders and notebooks and other project-related documentation (excludes validation reports).
- Initiates/assists changes in Standard Operating Procedure for modifications of existing processes.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt efficiently to program changes.
- Production of quality data and documentation in adherence to timelines and maintenance of GLP functions in the lab
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and relevant experience of two or more years preferred. An advanced degree may be substituted for experience.
- Technical knowledge in key areas of serology and cell-based immunoassays preferred.
- Experience at the bench, particularly in ELISA.
- GLP laboratory experience preferred.
