Executive Committee
Jack Henion, Ph.D.
Co-Founder, Chief Scientific Officer and Chairman
Dr.
Henion is an internationally recognized leader in the field of MS and
LC/MS. He is credited with nine patents and has published more than 200
peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals. In addition to his work at
Advion, Dr. Henion managed a major research laboratory at Cornell University,
where he served as a professor of toxicology for more than 24 years and
is now Emeritus Professor of Analytical Toxicology. Under his leadership
and vision, Advion has established itself as one of the largest and most
respected LC/MS contract laboratories in the world and a leader in chip-based
nanoelectrospray mass spectrometry.
Dr. Henion earned a bachelor's
degree from Alfred University, a master’s of science from the Rochester
Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. from the State University of New York
in Albany and a post doctoral appointment at the University of North Carolina,
Chapel Hill, NC. The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists
has recognized him as a Fellow for his contributions to analytical chemistry.
In recognition of his contributions in the field of MS, Dr. Henion has
received honorary doctorate degrees from the University of Ghent, Belgium
and the University of Uppsala, Sweden. Dr. Henion is also a member
of the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Mass Spectrometry
and the Royal Society of Chemistry (BA FRSC).
David B. Patteson
President and Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors
Mr. Patteson's career spans over thirty years of analytical, process, synthetic organic chemistry instrumentation and CRO business experience. Mr. Patteson's passions involve strategic planning, acquisitions and integration, global expansion, and profit enhancement. For over seven years prior to joining Advion, he served in varying capacities including President and CEO of Biotage, Inc., and was on the Executive Committee of Biotage AB, a significant life science company publicly traded on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Prior to Biotage, Mr. Patteson led a multi-hundred million dollar business group for the UK-based global engineering and instrumentation company Invensys. Mr. Patteson holds two separate bachelor degrees from the University of Richmond and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and completed a two year multi-national executive program in International Management conducted through IMD in Switzerland. Mr. Patteson serves the on board of directors for The University of Virginia Foundation, was a charter member of the board of directors for the University of Virginia - Coulter Foundation Board for Translational Research, the University of Richmond Council, and the boards of two privately held biotechnology companies.
Joseph M. Kiely
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer
Mr.
Kiely leads the Finance and Accounting Group and serves as the Secretary
and Treasurer of Advion BioSciences, Inc. He is responsible for accounting,
company financing, corporate administration, and investor/management reporting
for Advion. Prior to joining the company, he spent 8 years consulting
for BearingPoint Inc. (formally KPMG Consulting) within the World Class
Finance group, where he advised chief financial officers about strategy,
organization design, process improvement, and technology solutions. He
was integral in the product development of BearingPoint’s Global
Shared Services offering for Finance and Human Resource organizations.
Before BearingPoint, he worked in the Audit Practice at KPMG LLP.
Mr. Kiely earned a Bachelor
of Business Administration in Accounting from Siena College and is a Certified
Public Accountant.
Mark Allen, Ph.D.
Vice President, Managing Director - Europe
Dr.
Allen joined Advion in 2001, establishing Advion's European organization,
headquartered in Norwich, UK. He is responsible for the global sales and
marketing of Advion products and is the Managing Director of Advion BioSciences
Ltd. in Europe. Dr. Allen has over 20 years of LC/MS business experience,
spending the majority of his career with Applied Biosystems®/MDS SCIEX®.
He has held positions including Senior Product Manager for LC/MS products,
Director of Proteomics Marketing, and Director of Business Development
responsible for LC/MS product strategy.
He has a Ph.D. in organic mass spectrometry specializing
in electrospray from King's College, London with two credited patents.
He has completed the Consortium for Executive Development Program at Babson
College, MA.
Gary Williams
Vice President, North American Sales
Mr Williams has over 20 years of direct sales and management experience in the life science instrumentation sector and has led successful sales teams in Europe and North America.
Prior to joining Advion, he was General Manager, Europe for Biotage and has also held sales and distributor management positions at Perkin Elmer, Silicon Kinetics and Kontron Instruments.
He graduated with an Honours Degree in Chemistry from Thames Valley University, UK and spent 6 years as an analytical chemist, specializing in optical and magnetic resonance spectroscopy before moving into sales.
Simon Prosser, Ph.D.
Vice President, Marketing
Dr. Prosser joined Advion in 1999 and was one of the founders of the Micro Technology group where he was responsible for the development of the NanoMate and TriVersa instruments. He is now in charge of global marketing and product management for Advion Inc.
Prior to Advion he spent 11 years at Europa Scientific Ltd. (UK) designing and marketing stable isotope ratio mass spectrometers and associated sample preparation systems serving the Life Science and Earth Science markets. During this time, he helped grow the company from a five-person, garage-based operation to the world’s premier stable isotope mass spectrometer company. He held positions as Product Manager, General Manger of the Earth Sciences Group and served on the board as Technical Director.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Physics from Lancaster University and his Ph.D. with Prof. Colin Pillinger at the Planetary and Space Sciences Research Institute at the Open University (home of the Beagle Mars lander mission) where he developed mass spectrometers and methodologies for the isotopic analysis of minute samples of cosmic dust and meteorites. He is a Chartered Physicist and holds a Diploma in Management Studies from Staffordshire University.
Jamey Jones
Vice President, Operations & Technology
Mr. Jones leads the Product Operations, R&D, Product Applications, Quality and North America Customer Support & Service organizations. Mr. Jones has over 15 years of experience in technical and management roles with the past 11 years focused on analytical instrumentation and consumables. Prior to joining Advion in 2008, he was Director of North American Production Operations for Biotage AB. Mr. Jones spent over 7 years at Biotage where he led North America Product Operations, Test and Sustaining Engineering, Purchasing, Materials and Quality. During Mr. Jones’ tenure at Biotage he managed /co-project managed the launch of multiple serial and custom instrumentation platforms and consumables products. He has extensive experience in project management and has participated in M/A due diligence with a primary focus on product/production integration. Prior to joining Biotage, Mr. Jones spent time in the United States Navy and then with Northrup Grumman (Sperry Marine Division). He has functioned in various key technical and operation management roles throughout his career. Mr. Jones studied Electronics and Systems Engineering in the USN (1994) and Engineering Technology at PVCC (2000).
Dan Huston
Vice President, Human Resources
Mr.
Huston joined Advion in November 2006. He has over 25 years of Human Resources
experience, primarily in high-tech manufacturing settings in the telecommunications
and life sciences industries. He previously served as Vice President of
Human Resources for Biotage AB, where he had the responsibility for global
human resources activities. He also managed the Human Resources function
for AT&T/Lucent Technologies’ printed circuit board manufacturing
facility with over 2,200 employees in Richmond, VA. Mr. Huston has been
involved in a wide variety of strategic and tactical HR activities, both
internationally and in the US. Additionally, he has had experience with
a number of major change events including business mergers, acquisitions,
and sales.
Mr. Huston received a BA Degree
in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina –
Charlotte, and obtained an MBA from the University of Richmond. |
