Director of Operations
Position Summary
The Director of Operations oversees all aspects of the manufacturing, purchasing/planning, supply chain, order management, shipping/receiving, warehouse, and sustainable engineering units within Advion, Inc. As an integral member of the Operations group, this position will provide essential leadership and direction to assigned units, including coaching/mentoring, training, and performance management for staff. Review, analyze, evaluate business processes and procedures, and make recommendations to improve products and services. Ensure timely planning and availability of materials to meet customer sales order demands and sales forecasts. Develop, implement, measure performance (KPIs), and implement countermeasures to enhance materials management, production efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop priorities, strategies, and KPIs for Operations activities, including manufacturing (production and sustaining engineering) and Supply Chain (Purchasing, Planning, Order Management/Export, Inventory, and Warehousing).
- Drive and implement standardized, documented best practices and processes across all Operations areas.
- Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks. Seek synergies and best practices to develop and implement new methods to improve productivity and customer service.
- Use analytics to improve manufacturing and material management processes through the use of LEAN principles and productivity measurements.
- Lead the achievement of a zero-injury workplace by ensuring safe work conditions for associates and compliance with all state and federal regulations on environmental, health and safety issues.
- Responsible for import/export of products, OSHA guidelines and shipment requirements for hazardous goods.
- Manage Sustaining Engineering activities such as life cycle support, production support, and new product introduction.
- Overall budget responsibility for Operations departments – budget creation, capital equipment planning, and hiring priorities. Accountability for the financial performance of the department as measured against the budget.
- People management – provides leadership, direction, and coaching to teams. Prioritize schedules and workloads to ensure deadlines are met.
Qualifications
BS/BA degree in Business, Engineering, or Logistics or equivalent combination of education and experience required. MS preferred. Minimum 5 years’ experience managing in manufacturing or production, supply chain with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and direct others. Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. A collaborative partner with the ability to foster and maintain solid working relationships at all levels of the organization and with vendors and associates. Good reasoning and sound judgment. A positive “can do” attitude, analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with various software programs, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems is highly desired.
